Media Details In honor of the Great Jubilee, a time of special forgiveness and healing, the Catholic Church began sponsoring a program of outreach to women who are suffering because of abortion. The program is sponsored in the name of Project Rachel, a name used by the Church's post-abortion ministry. A pilot program debuted in the Washington/Northern Virginia/Baltimore metropolitan areas, in February and March 2000. Since then, over two dozen dioceses and states have conducted the outreach program. Components Billboards: Seven billboards -- five in the Washington, D.C. area, and two in Baltimore City -- appeared in February and March 200. The billboards are identical. Radio Ads: Four 60-second ads, two of which are also in Spanish, aired in February and March 200. these ads played approximately 200 times per week in the Baltimore, D.C., and Northern Virginia areas. Bus and Subway Placards: Bus and subway placards were placed in a total of 860 sites in the two metropolitan areas. There are three different placards. Bumper Stickers: Bumper stickers reading "Something inside dies after an abortion," are available in English & Spanish. Project Rachel's website address appears on them. Pamphlet: A pamphlet, "How to Talk to a Friend Who Has Had an Abortion" is available in English & Spanish. It is intended for use in churches and other appropriate public places. Poster: A poster that can also be used as a newspaper ad is available for local use. Website: This website, www.hopeafterabortion.com, appears on all printed advertising materials. |
